JUST BECAUSE!

How the first day back in school ended up.....

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! This class is going to be a very intense & emotionally intimate class...i believe that i definitely am the kind of person who will be able to make a difference in a child's life....to provide safety and security, love and encouragement and most importantly PROTECTION!....

We already have our first paper to write and first couple chapters to read before next class...so i will be a busy-bee for the next few days.....

the first paper is the Introduction: In this paper i will be writing about why i am taking this class and what my expectations are for the class...if i have set any goals for myself in this class....if yes, then write about what they are...do i see what i will learn in this class as being valuable in my future...if so, telling how....then to end i will be telling a little about myself, including anything i would want her to know that will help her to make the class more meaningful to me.

So i was telling my kids about me going back to school...they wanted to know what classes i was talking...how much homework i would have and what i was going to be when i was done...the reactions from my two oldest (Michael & Alexis) were as follows.....

Michael: after asking what i was taking and what i wanted to be when done with school he proceeded to tell his Dad who was sitting in the same room as he was...and suggested that his dad go back to school too so he could have a job that really meant something...he said all of this as i listened while nearly falling of my chair...lol...his dad of course didn't find it as amusing.....we ended our conversation with my son telling me that he was very proud of me for going back to school....

Alexis: my, my Alexis...lol....her reaction was quite different to start off with....when she asked what classes i was going to take i started with the first one i would be starting, "Child Abuse & Family Violence"....instantly her reaction was "MOM!...you're taking a class so you know how to beat us?...Thats just wrong Mom".....this time i did end up on the floor...laughing so hard while listening to her say "I'ts not funny mom...Thats messed up...lol"...finally i got a word in and was able to explain what i was taking the class for....she then proceeded to tell me she was happy that i was going to learn to protect children......lol....

It's so amazing to hear how things come out of kids mouths....to hear how they interpret things...and finally how their support can and does mean sooo much more.....

ONLY 4 MORE DAYS TO GO!!

Just 4 more days to go until the new semester starts and i start my classes...i am so excited and can't wait...i have tried several time to go back to school...and each time it didn't work out....this time, however, there is something that feels like it is my driving force and this time i'll be able to do it....

Maybe its knowing that right now my kidlings are with their dad....so what better choice do i have than to spend my time pushing through to accomplish something that:

1) is what i have dreamed of doing for so long
2) will be beneficial for both myself and my kids
3) will be a good example for my kids

My children are the most important in my life...there is nothing i won't do for them...and with this in mind i hope to be able to accomplish finishing school once and for all showing them that in order to get to where they want to be they need to put some effort and hard work into it....and in the end it will be so worth it....

BACK TO SCHOOL I GO!!!

I AM SOOO EXCITED!!! I OFFICIALLY REGISTERED FOR MY CLASSES YESTERDAY AND WILL BE STARTING BACK TO SCHOOL AT THE END OF THE MONTH...I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DAY I HEAR MY NAME BEING CALLED AND RECEIVE MY DEGREE IN FRONT OF MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!....I HOPE TO BE ABLE TO SET A GOOD EXAMPLE TO MY CHILDREN AND THEY IN TURN WILL BE SUCCESSFUL IN COMPLETING THEIR GOALS AND DREAMS ONE DAY TOO!

My son's best friend who was senselessly and tragically killed because someone had to prove something. Today we remember Chris and his friendliness, compassion and playfulness knowing that he is in a better place. The person responsible for his death, an 18 yr old guy whom wanted to prove to his fellow gang members that he too could shoot at people...now charged with 3 counts, 2 for attempted murder (Chris's mom & older brother were in the car with him) and one for murder. January 24th, 2008 his fate will be decided. We miss you Chris...you will always be in our memories and prayers....

The main man in my life.....his resilience through life gives me the strength and determination to make each day the best...at 6 weeks of age he was overcome by an illness that left him hospitalized and the dr's saying he probably wouldn't make it through the night...today he's your average 12 year old smart alic...excelling in school beyond most his own age or grade level...music, sports, video games and hanging out with his friends are some of his favorites...as a big brother he is most protective of his little sisters...always showing his caring, protective side when they are sad or hurting...he is my pride and joy!!

My Girls

Okay...my first official post...hmmmm...not even sure what to say or where to start...so i will share one of my most recent favorite photos of my girls...Alexis...my 10 yr old chef/veterinarian in training...my sidekick on all my ventures of hiking & trailing...always thinking of others and wanting to help out in any way she can....someday you'll see her serving up mouse ala carte in your nearest reptile house...Ashley...my 8 yr old princess...is just that my little princess...loves being pampered and hates being sweaty...her favorites are anything pink and sparkley...probably the most sensitive of all three...any bit of disapproval or meaness breaks her heart...Both will make awesome mothers one day...they fail to ever leave their babies, Christian & Gracie (cabbage patch babies that is) anywhere..and reprimand me for leaving them in the car or in the closet...hehehe....
